Voice of the Artist: Hurricane Sandy
Ongoing Interview Program
October 20 – December 14, every Saturday from 12noon – 3pm at Industry City in Brooklyn
The Voice of the Artist: Hurricane Sandy interview program is a joint effort with INCCA-NA and the Dedalus Foundation in conjunction with the exhibition “Come Together: Surviving Sandy, Year 1” taking place at Industry City (220 36th Street, Sunset Park, Brooklyn). Interviews will be held starting Sunday, October 20th during the Opening and then every Saturday from afternoon until the end of the exhibition.
During these times, a contemporary art conservator will be on site to conduct short interviews with artists who were victims of Hurricane Sandy. These taped interviews will focus on how the Hurricane affected the artist’s work, their approach to their craft, and/or their thoughts about conservation. The interviews will provide an oral history of how the arts community was affected by the storm and also how it has worked toward recovery. No appointments are necessary; we encourage artists to come by anytime on Saturdays between 12-3 pm.
Please note: Artists will be asked to sign a waiver allowing the interviews to be taped and shared via INCCA-NA, Dedalus Foundation, and “Come Together: Surviving Sandy, Year 1.”
